Eng. Pietro Baggi

Piero Baggi was born in Bergamo, Italy in 1970. He received the University Degree in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 1996. He started its professional career in 1996 joining Alcatel Telecom (Vimercate - Milan, 1996-1998), where he worked as SW developer for SDH/SONET telecommunications systems. During this period he has also developed the VHDL source code for an ASIC performing SDH frame alignment control and synchronization. From 1998 to 2000 he has worked for Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali, as FW designer for the control of AC drives and PWM rectifiers for Active Front End converters. Particularly he developed FW on DSP and MCU to control an Active Front End converter for heavy industry applications. His primary interests and competences turned around digital adaptive control algorithms and highly-optimized numerical filtering techniques.

In October 2000 he moved to STMicroelectronics, where he served as Design Manager of digital controllers for Memory Cards from different standards (CompactFlash, MMC, SD), participating to meetings of the SDAssociation and MMCAssociation as an affiliate. He was co-author of a Patent on a algorithm for a file-transfer-level data management of a MultiMedia Card. In February 2007 he joined Siel S.P.A., an Italian company, leader on Uninterruptible Power Supply manufacturing and renewable energies, where is currently in charge as R&D Director. As such, he leads design engineers and prototipation of 3-phase UPS, Utility-Scale PV inverters and Active-Front-End converters for wind applications. He's also referent for Quality Standards assurance of the Company family of products . He’s particularly focused on control and modulation techniques for high-efficiency inverters and on the electrical issues (EMI) related to the connection of PWM inverters to AC Medium Voltage Distribution lines. He is an affiliate member of different technical working committees at C.E.I. (Italian Electrical Committee).
